Designed and Developed TabWorks (a replacement for Microsoft’s Program Manager):

Worked with marketing to quickly develop a working prototype for the user interface; prototyped the product architecture; designed and prototyped file tracking (a technology that automatically detects documents as they are created); Selected by XSoft management as a member of the TabWorks presentation team which demonstrated and sold the product to senior management of Compaq Computer Corp. who prepaid $500K in royalties to fund the development effort; and worked with Compaq marketing to refine the product feature list.

Team Leader for TabWorks 1.0:

Designed the product (program architecture and user interface); worked with a graphics design firm and marketing to ensure the interface was truly intuitive; developed the project schedule; lead the team of engineers; wrote the core class library (persistence, reference counting, containers, streaming); worked closely with Q/A lead and Marketing; tracked project status; delivered the product to Compaq ahead of schedule and under budget; product was bundled on over 3 million Compaq computers in the first year while generating over $9 million in royalties.

Architect for TabWorks 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3:

These maintenance releases included minor functionality changes, and bug fixes.

Architect for TabWorks 2.0:

Architected, prototyped, and designed new features for TabWorks 2.0; reviewed designs of all team members; designed and prototyped the full text retrieval engine and user interface used by TabWorks; designed and implemented the Tab Archiver (a repository for sharing tabs between two different TabWorks books); designed and prototyped a network-based object transfer layer using sockets, IPX, and TCP/IP; designed and prototyped TabWorks for Workgroups; and redesigned the file tracking engine (file tracking monitors disk activity and automatically creates placements in TabWorks for documents as they are created).
