Drivers

This page provides the original drivers that were originally shipped with the aero by compaq. Thanks for these files, Johannes!!! They came with the german package of the aero, so some software may be in this language.

Please keep in mind, that compaq provided newer versions of most of this software, so called 'softpaqs' which can still freely be downloaded from their ftp-site.

Ver. 1.06 Rev A

This drivers disk is outdated. There is a newer version 1.08 Rev. A. meanwhile available as softpacks SP1747.EXE - SP1743.EXE in different language versions.

Ver. 1.43 Rev A

This drivers disk is also outdated. There is a newer version 2.04 Rev. A. meanwhile available as softpacks SP3019.EXE - SP3015.EXE in different language versions.

Please read my section "Supplemental Programs for Windows 3.1" carefully for installing the last version. It can be found at "drivers and updates/supplemental software/for Windows 3.1".

There is also a package for Win 95 now. A description can be found at "drivers and updates/supplemental software/for Windows 95".

Ver. 9.02 Rev B

This is an outdated version of the Compaq Personal Computer Diagnostics. There is a newer version 10.11 Rev. C. meanwhile available as softpack SP2054.EXE from Compaq.

Please don't use the older version, if you need support for large harddisks or the 16 MB RAM-module. Take SP2054 instead.

The Diagnostics Software is described in my section "drivers and updates/Diagnostics and Setup/F10 Setup and Diagnostics".

Ver. 1.24 Rev A

This drivers disk is an equivalent to SP0890.

There is a newer version 1.25 meanwhile available as SP1045.EXE from Compaq.

Please take also a look at SP1645. All relevant softpaqs for PCMCIA are described in my section "drivers and updates/Drivers/PCMCIA (Dos/Win 3.1)".

Ver. 7.40 Rev. A

From the description:

I never needed those disks for installing anything on the aero. Maybe they are helpful for others.

Ver. 6.30 Rev. A

This mouse-driver is also outdated now. Take the newer Logitech-driver Version 6.44 as SP1714.EXE from Compaq instead.
